DESCRIPTION: Our undergraduate degrees focus on the relationships between technical and social change, particularly with respect to information and communications technologies in both the developing and the developed world. The programmes cover inequalities in access to technologies, innovation and diffusion of technologies, networking, computer ethics and regulation of the ICT industry.
The MA in Innovation Studies explores the complex, dynamic relations between social and technological forces shaping innovation processes in an international context. There is an emphasis on inequalities due to gender, socioeconomic status and/or race; social distribution of responsibility, wealth and risk; and ethical considerations related to the governance of innovation in both business and the public sphere. The MA is offered as part of the European ESST Masters Programme, with guest lecturers from our European partner universities and opportunities for student mobility.

Description: A centre for the integrated study of science's history, philosophy, sociology, communication and policy, located in the heart of London. Founded in 1921. Award winning teaching and research. UCL was the first UK university to offer undergraduate degrees in this interdisciplinary subject. The Department London's largest centre for the integrated study of history and philosophy of science, sociology of science, science policy, and communication of science. The department is a thriving academic centre, with students at all levels and a wide variety of opportunities for learning both formally and informally. External activties include reading groups, walking tours, film screenings, seminars, museum and gallery visits, photography competitions, among many others. Some funding opportunities exist. Honorary fellows come from many of London's related institutions, including the Royal Institution, the Science Museum, Imperial College London, and the National Maritime Museum. MSc and PhD students have a record for publishing and teaching. Strong reputation for academic and pastoral support.
